The Waters ACQUITY UPC2 System (UltraPerformance Convergence Chromatography™) combines the separation power of supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) with Waters’ proven UPLC technology. Using compressed liquid CO₂ as the primary mobile phase, the system enables precise modulation of pressure, mobile phase strength, and temperature.

This allows for exceptional control of analyte retention and improved resolution for challenging structural analogs, isomers, and enantiomers.

Unlike reversed-phase LC—where polar compounds elute early—convergence chromatography retains and elutes polar analytes last, offering a powerful alternative to normal-phase LC with modern ease-of-use.
The system is designed for enhanced selectivity, greener operation, and high-throughput analytical workflows.
