Description
Zeiss LSM 710 Confocal with Elyra PS.1 Super-Resolution Microscope
This system was removed from a university laboratory where it was surplus to requirements.
The LSM 710 Elyra PS.1 integrates an inverted laser scanning confocal microscope with the Elyra PS.1 super-resolution platform, enabling SIM, PALM, and STORM imaging with resolutions down to 10–100 nm at the single-molecule level.
The system is equipped with ZEN 2012 software, a motorised X/Y stage, Definite Focus, and TIRF mode, supporting tiling, multiposition acquisition, time-lapse imaging, FRAP, and FRET. An on-stage environmental chamber with a 35 mm Petri dish adaptor, linked to a CO₂/N₂ controller, enables live-cell and hypoxic imaging. An offline data-processing workstation is also included.

The system has recently been serviced, with the following work carried out:
Resolved mains power issue by transferring components to a PowerStrip
Reloaded ZEN software and Hotfix 29 due to Windows errors
Addressed Andor camera temperature alarm by disabling liquid cooling in the database (internal fan enabled; liquid cooling hardware still present, likely chiller-related)
Scanner calibration completed after scanfield test failure (test now passes)
AOTF and linearity calibrated
Signal-to-noise ratio passes on all LSM channels
Elyra laser fibres realigned; Elyra head position and angle adjusted
BSC plates calibrated
Laser power measured and recorded for both LSM 710 and Elyra (all within spec)
Oculars and objectives cleaned
Test images acquired (10× and 20× objectives used; no immersion oil available at time of test)
Processing PC checked: boots without errors; ZEN Black and ZEN Blue both operational
