Hitachi S-4800 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope with Oxford Ultim Max 40 EDS

This item is sold on behalf of a client, where it will be removed from a laboratory in which it is surplus to requirements.

The system has been regularly serviced and was last visited by Hitachi in February 2025. It has seen little use since that service and is currently installed, powered, and imaging correctly. Hitachi involvement is expected for decommissioning and recommissioning at a new site, and the system is therefore offered on the basis that standard service/commissioning work at the buyer’s cost will be required as part of relocation.

System Overview

  • Model: Hitachi S-4800 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM)
  • Stage: Type 2 motorised stage (installed c.2008)

  • EDS System: Oxford Instruments Ultim Max 40 EDS (purchased 2024) with dedicated PC and analysis software

Oxford Instruments have confirmed that EDS ownership transfer is straightforward, and they do not charge for transferring registration to the new owner.
