Description
This Steinway & Sons Solid Woods Model E Upright Walnut Piano was removed from a university music department.
We recently had an appraisal carried out on it and the following was the result;
Steinway Upright (92176) c.1899. H: 127cms 88 keys. Structurally sound, action overhaul & restring (1980’s). Satin Walnut casework is still presentable. Needs multiple action repairs, recentering, hammer refacing, regulation, pitch raising (treble is 100cents flat) and three plastic keytops.
As a result of this inspection, we must sell the piano as spares / repairs as it needs refurbishment.
Our own team also did some assessments:
It appears to be in reasonable used cosmetic condition but it does have some scrapes and marks here and there. There appears to be an issue with E & F in the 3rd octave. It seems to be a slight alinement issue with the hammers, looks like it would be an easy fix though. That E is also missing the cover. The E & F in the next octave are also missing their covers. The C# in the 5th Octave also has a problem with the hammer but it looks like just the pin that holds the hammer is missing, nothing really looks broken. The lower wooden soundboard cover has a bit of a warp in it and the music rest has a small chip/break in the centre.
Overall the unit clearly needs some refurbishment throughout. Please note our shipping is a pallet shipping option - they will unload the unit kerbside, but will not take it off the pallet, or help bring it inside.
