Description
This Elliot Progress Freestanding Engineering Workshop Pillar Drill No.1 was removed from a university workshop where it was surplus to requirements.
The unit was working when removed from service, with no issues. Though we have not tested it ourselves so we cannot guarantee that it is still in working order.
The unit is mounted on a floor stand. It has a 0.5 hp 440v motor and the drill speeds are 340-2580 rpm as indicated on the panel.
The motor, drive pulleys, belts and chuck all turn by hand smoothly. A chuck key is attached for the 3 jaw chuck. A safety guard/ shield is fitted at the chuck and operates as should. A clamp to hold items on the drill bed is also fitted and works.
The drill dates from the 1960s. The paintwork is peeling but the steelwork is in great condition. It is not damaged and is in good condition for the age.
