Description
This Thermo Electron Multifuge 3S-R Benchtop Laboratory Centrifuge was removed from a university lab where it was surplus to requirements.
The unit is in good used cosmetic condition but it does have various scratches, marks and signs of general use.
The unit powers up and runs fine and has been tested with a digital thermometer (not included).
We tested it at:
-9ºC - The minimum temperature. The thermometer showed -9.4ºC.
0ºC - The thermometer showed -1.4ºC
4ºC - The thermometer showed 3.9ºC
We tried running it at 20ºC but the unit would only reach 15ºC and the thermometer showed 17ºC. We did run it for a significant amount of time, but the temperature would not climb at all. The maximum temperature is supposed to be 40ºC but we are not sure if it is actually designed to incubate.
The centrifuge has a Sorval 75006445 rotor fitted with 4 x 75006441L 750ml buckets and 2 x 75006533 Thermo 5 x 50ml bucket adapters.
The rotor maximum speed is 4600rpm, which is what the centrifuge will run at with it fitted.
