Description
This Perkin Elmer FT-IR Spectrometer Spectrum Two was removed from a university lab where it was surplus to requirements.
The unit does not power up but is in otherwise reasonably good cosmetic condition. We asked the lab for details of the fault. They informed us that it was mid-service when it broke. The service engineer said the interferometer had failed but didn't investigate further.
We had our engineer inspect it. They reported the following;
The windows are moisture damaged and one of the frames has a crack. IT will fail the background test, the throughput test and IR gain. A new laser assembly is also required. The sources have been cleaned of any oxides.
Spectrum 10 software would also be required.
