Perkin-Elmer 203 Fluorescence Spectrometer

This was removed from a university lab where it was surplus to requirements.

The system is made up of the following modules.

Transformer. 139-0246.

Mercury Lamp Power Unit. 203-2210. S/N - 4706-1

Fluorescence Spectrometer. 203-2010. S/N - 4708-9

MLPU and FS are hard-wired to each other.

The transformer has 3 x grounded US sockets (Type B) for the MLPU and FS. (one free socket) The transformer did have old uninsulated live and neutral. Replaced with insulated plug.

Both MLPU and FS show signs of life when powered on, and plugged into the Transformer. The MLPU has a lamp that lights up. The internal lamp can be seen functioning externally on the side and the gauge rises.

On the left-hand side of the front, there is a flap, under where 4 samples can be placed on the rotor. The square spaces on the rotor measure approx 13mm each. On the front left of the front there is a control which when operated will rotate the rotor. This mechanism works.

We were unable to test it further.
