We have not carried out any testing, including any safety testing on the unit so it must be inspected and safety tested by a competent electrician prior to use.

This equipment is being offered on behalf of a client and originates from surplus laboratory assets.

The system consists of an Armfield Research Wave Flume (Ref AL18597) fitted with an HR Wallingford wave paddle and controller (Panel ID CQR5365 HRFL0101/A, Campus Tag 7833) and an associated overhead Wave Flume Access Platform / gantry manufactured by Global Platforms Ltd (manufactured 25/02/2016, Drawing No. GP/SU/5204 Rev B). The facility has been used in a controlled laboratory environment for experimental work in coastal and marine hydrodynamics, including wave–structure interaction and sediment transport studies.

Further information regarding the system specifications is available on request.

The equipment was installed and operated as part of Swansea University’s marine laboratory facilities and is now being removed from service following operational requirements changing.

This system is sold on behalf of a Client. It is surplus to requirement.

The facility was commissioned in 1999 by Lola Cars to deliver advanced aerodynamic testing for race and road cars. It has an extensive history of use by leading motorsport and automotive brands including Mazda, Toyota F1, Aston Martin, Bentley, MG (Le Mans Car) and Scania Trucks. Typical rental rates for external users have been around £7,000 per day.

A major upgrade project was completed between late 2023 and mid-2024, bringing the wind tunnel to the very latest standards of aerodynamic testing. The upgrade preserved the tunnel’s proven aerodynamic performance while introducing the latest control systems, data handling capabilities, and automation features.

Key upgrade highlights include:

New EtherCat-enabled control architecture for all major systems
Cosworth Diablo control software providing automated sequencing, Constant Motion Testing, advanced data acquisition, and integration with MATLAB and Pi Toolbox
Rolling Road and Boundary Layer Suction System fully upgraded for precision airflow control
Enhanced Model Motion System (MMS) with improved speed, power, and positional accuracy for realistic simulation of track and road conditions
