This system was removed from a university laboratory where it was surplus to requirements.

The spectrometer is in excellent cosmetic condition, although the right-hand side panel is missing. A new HV PSU was fitted, but the unit cannot be fully tested as the required external control PC with MassLynx software is not included.

When powered on, the internal instrument control PC displays “VXLD 1.2” during boot and does not progress further. This behaviour matches the previous owner’s report, and without the external control PC the system cannot be operated. The HV PSU has since been removed.

Due to the missing HV PSU and the absence of the external control PC, this system is sold strictly as spares or repair.

The previous owner advised that the unit is a Plasma Therm 790 (S/N: PTI-78299-F) and has been out of service for some time.

They confirmed that the lower cover was removed in order to safely purge process gases prior to disconnection; this panel has been set aside and is intended to be refitted. A chiller unit is located beneath the computer, reportedly associated with a PECVD system, although its inclusion in this sale has not been confirmed.

The seller further stated that the system is nearing end-of-life, operating intermittently, and required multiple attempts to successfully complete the gas purge procedure prior to removal.

Due to this it is listed as Spares/Repair.
